Tele Atlas, which currently provides Map data to iPhone applications like, TomTom, Sygic and NDrive, is teaming up with Geolife to deliver yet another Turn-by-Turn Voice Guided GPS application for the iPhone and iPod Touch, PosiMotion Navmii UK, version 1.1.
I know, the iPod Touch (and the 1G/2G iPhone) does not have an integrated GPS receiver chip build-in, you might think. So did Geolife and has solved this issue different than TomTom and Magellan. They have manufactured what they call, the PosiMotion G-Fi box, the world’s first mobile network / GPS router. This box is sold separately for $99 while supplies last.

The PosiMotion G-Fi box is also a tracking device, for kids, pets and car, because it has long-range WIFI support. It claims also that it will help you find your car back in complex parking areas.
Countries
At the moment, only the UK is supported. Navmii USA, Canada and Europe, including Russia are in the AppStore approval pipeline at the moment.

Main features
• Easy-to-use complete satellite navigation for your iPhone & iPod touch
• Clear, easy to read maps for all devices (iPhone 2G & iPod Touch are also supported)
• Complete Onboard solution - No Monthly fees & No Data charges
• Option of viewing the map in either 2D, 3D or a safety screen
• Fast route calculation and automatic re-routing should you miss a turn

• Voice and visual turn-by-turn route guidance
• Constantly update information about your journey: Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) and distance to destination
• Speed limit warnings both on safety screen and map
• Day/Night mode
• 1000’s of POI included

Market positioning
PosiMotion Navmii UK is positioned in the low cost GPS market. The app can be yours for only 25,99 Euro. This is good news for the iPhone user base. Applications like Ndrive, CoPilot and now Navmii are putting more and more price pressure on the App Store GPS heavy weights like TomTom, Navigon and Sygic.

If you want to have this app compared against another GPS app, let me know, I will do so as soon as the europe edition has been released, just drop a comment.
