Tony Karakashian reviewed CopyTrans, software which transfers photos to and from the iPhone/iPod
Similar to CopyTrans, CopyTrans Photo allows you to backup, restore and manage the photos on your devices very easily. At first glance, it looks like CopyTrans Photo doesn’t do anything more than using Explorer or Finder on your computer in getting the photos off of your device. But, the software provides an excellent feature not found elsewhere: the ability to move photos TO your device. Yes, you can do it with iTunes, but I’ve found trying to manage photos using iTunes to be slow and laborious. Forget how slow iTunes is to load and use, you only have the ability to sync folders and not individual photos. Perhaps Mac users have this functionality in iPhoto, but it’s functionality sorely needed on Windows.
Upon opening, the software quickly scans your device and starts presenting your pictures. It operates very fast, and within moments I was browsing. Each photo roll on your device is shown as a separate tab, and it’s a simple matter to just drag your photos off the device and onto your PC. The reverse is similarly true, although we were only provided a copy that did device -> PC backing up. I was able to get photos from the PC synced with my iPhone’s library, but they contained a watermark indicating I was using the software in demo mode. It also applied that watermark when moving photos between rolls on the iPhone itself. However, it worked very quickly and painlessly and the demo was enough to convince me that I might just have to plop down the extra dollars to upgrade my review version!

All in all, if you take a lot of photos with your iPhone’s camera, this software might just be a great investment for you. It really does make getting photos off you phone a painless event. Even better, the full version makes getting them ON your phone a no brainer.

iCloner - This software will create an exact backup of your iPod to ensure you can recover it in case of loss or needing to send it off for repair. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support iPhones yet, so I wasn’t able to review it. And, considering I’d probably need to wipe my phone to do so, I don’t think I would’ve anyway.
